Help

mechanicalcheck.com is a software calculator that helps you to design and verify machine elements according standard. These calculations are often tedious, error-prone and in sum very time-consuming. The online calculator offers remedy: With mechanicalcheck all converting calculations can be done quickly, properly and well documentated.

General information about the user interface

Please fill in all input boxes. Output boxes in grey ('output') are only for information and are locked.

Results are displayed after all necessary data has been entered. Otherwise the output-fields display 'output'.

Data from a selection list is sent immediately to the system and the page will be updated. Data from selection lists are linked with each other, possible selections from lists will be updated as well. Thus only possible combinations can be selected. If you wish to reset your selection, please select '-' from the selection list. If you wish to reset all lists, you can reset the whole page by clicking 'calc' in the title-section.

The field 'DIN EN 10025'

Here the thickness t or the diameter d as well as the material has to be entered.

Tensile test

The field 'Yield strength'

Yield strength R_eH (see draft) of the material will be displayed here. Given value is a minimum value, that has to be met by the manufacturer.

The field 'Tensile strength'

Tensile strength R_m (see draft) of the material will be displayed here. Values for tensile strength vary in a range between minimum and maximum value. Please enter which value should be displayed. For design matters it is recommended to use the minimum value, for machining the maximum value.

The field 'Elongation at break'

Elongation at break A (see draft) of the material will be displayed here. Given value is a minimum value, that has to be met by the manufacturer. For sheets, strip steel and wide flats with width ≥ 600 mm values apply for direction perpendicular ('t') to rolling direction. For all other products values apply for direction in rolling direction ('l').

Because during the mechanical design process mostly profiles are used, the value 'l' is set to default value.

The field 'Charpy impact energy'

Charpy impact energy J (see draft) of the material will be displayed here. Given value is a minimum value, that has to be met by the manufacturer for the selected temperature. It is recommended to select the value that the minimum temperature in operation is above the selected temperature.
